Psalms 91-1:2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
God is our refuge, not the building where we gather every Sunday. God is my fortress not my Pastor. Hey Family! This is a great verse to read aloud every day. Everything needed for this present crisis is written in this scripture’s plan layout; where to go for refuge, who provides it and most importantly, how we get to it.. It’s all there! If there’s anytime followers of Christ need to trust God, it is now! God is our refuge, not the building where we gather every Sunday. God is my fortress not my Pastor. Yes, we are going through a crisis but we have been singing songs for decades about the character of God that are still true. This crisis might be a gift to establish our claims of faith in the good and wise Father. God is our refuge, not the building where we gather every Sunday. God is my fortress not my Pastor.
We should be reminded that before and even during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Christ followers all around the world that have and are still living in quarantine but this is not due to the virus. Some of our brothers and sisters in Christ do not have the luxury to publicly and freely do what we have been able to do most of our christian walk. They have been persecuted for openly stating they are christian, had their churches and bibles destroyed, and kept from freely gathering to fellowship and have accessibility to their pastors. We as Americans are temporarily being inconvenienced. It’s true, we can not go to our place of worship, physically fellowship with our church members and pastors but this is temporary. God is our refuge, not the building where we gather every Sunday. God is my fortress not my Pastor.
This is a great time to live out our faith in God and put in context our true plight. I have alway taught, faith that is not tested should not be trusted. This is not a time for throwing in the towel, complaining, grumbling and whining because the world is watching. This is my time to walk out my faith and trust God. God is our refuge, not the building where we gather every Sunday. God is my fortress not my Pastor.
