A life lived by design can be used for God’s glory. A life lived by design is marked by self-control.
We are Called to Live By Design
God has not called us to live by default, but to live by design, for a life lived by design glorifies God. A life lived by design is marked by self-control, but a reckless life belongs to the one who has no value for self-control.
God's Design for Us is to Have Self-Control
God is a God of order. God loves it when we use our minds, for our minds are great masters for our emotions. Being self-controlled is demonstrated in how I spend my time and energy. Each of us is allocated the same 24 hours everyday. The wise among us allow the spirit of God to protect their time.
5 Benefits of Having Self-Control (saying “no” to yourself):
- God opens doors for you because He knows you can be trusted to listen to His voice.
- Friends recommend you for opportunities to grow because you are have control over your emotions.
- Your children learn that every crisis can be used for God’s glory.
- Your children become mature, godly adults who respond to crisis with prayer. Godless adults refuse to allow God use them to be a blessings to others through and during a crisis.
- You discover the power of changing the emotional temperature of a room because you are led by the Spirit of God, and have given the Word of God rule over your spirit.
God's Design for You is to Desire Self-Control
God wants to use you, but He cannot use you to your full potential if you do not have self-control. As a young leader prays that God will give you the mental stamina to handle your emotional urges to handle stress and disappointment wisely, you need to ask God for boldness to tell yourself: “No”.
