1. This video GOT SOME DUST OF MY EYES and made me have a "black baptiscostal moment" rejoicing at the power of God despite the negative "voices" of the enemy. Christ will build His church despite the pull of Satan. 
2. Just before watching this movie, I was lamenting in my office in Elma that nobody responding to my call for salavation in the past four SUNDAYS!!!!
3. I was discouraged tONIGHT when I saw young men  selling drugs right in front of my apartment (in Elma, WA) directly across the street from our church. (Satan, seriously????Our God is greater.He will kick your .....!!!)
4. My heart sank!!! I could not believe that Satan will engineer people to destroy lives right between two churches. GOD  have MERCY!!! HEAL ELMA!!!!Elma for Jesus!!!!! Pastor James needs prayer support......
5. BUT WAIT!!!!!! THAT IS NOT THE END OF THE STORY!!!!
6. God has gifted numerous people in our church to accomplish His work as we obey HIS WORD!!!!!
7. What we are doing is more important that "Britain Got Talent".WAIT A MINUTE!!!!!!! CHRIST HAS PROMISED TO BUILD HIS CHURCH!!!!
8. God is bringing people to Himself. All kinds of people to Himself.....
9. After church TODAY!!!! numerous people told me they have invited people for Easter. People hugged me and told me God is rocking their MINDS WITH JOHN 3:16!!!!!!!!!!
10. We are praying that God will send us 80 people on Easter Sunday.
11. We believe that God is totally in-charge  and can do great things through us. We are excited that God will do amazing things for us!!!!!!YEAH GOD!!!!!!!!
12. We are riding a wave, a wave of the grace and amazing goodness of GOOD God great God of Isreal. 

Amazing NEWS!!!!

1. Over 55 people in Church today....we will celebrate and give God the glory.
2. We will not listen to the naysayers about this "being the honey moon" or "it will wear out in 1 year".
3. A young solider and his wife attended our services....we honored He and his wife for serving our country. Thank God for men and women who are willing to fight for our freedom. Freedom is not free baby!!!!!!
4. We will party hard and rejoice in the goodness of the Lord.Grays harbor county will continue to see what God is doing throught First Baptist Church Elma.
5. We will join the lord in His work in and around Gray's Harbor County...
6. Jesus is Alive!!!!THE TOMB IS EMPTY!!!!!WE WILL proclaim His word in our lives. God is good!!! Our anthem forever will be!!!!!!!!!!!

The State of the Union and the State of the Pulpit | Ordinary Pastor

1. People are not idiots. We can and should expect them to listen when we have something to say.

2. Persuasive presentations are still effective. Otherwise he would just blog the thing.

3. Preparation actually matters. Whatever you want to say about the POTUS and his teleprompter, guess what? He knew his speech. He had thought it through and had it down.

4. Thoughtful preparation matters. He knew who he was talking to and what he wanted to say.

5. Fear is healthy. Let’s face it, the President has a job to do and an election to win. He doesn’t want to stink it up.

If you are a pastor, keep preaching. And keep expecting people to listen. But, please, please, please, could you make sure that the sermon is actually in you before you give it? Make sure it moves you. Have convictions, be persuasive, get after it. What a shame it would be if the president was more thoughtful, diligent, and committed in his presentation to the people of the country than we are to our congregations before God? What an indictment this is to us who bye the lie that preaching is irrelevant. No, boring is irrelevant. And so is tired, lazy, unprepared, unmoved, wimpy  guys who have nothing to say.

Maybe I Do Want Topical Preaching? | 9Marks

Yes, thank you, give me Christ-centered sermons. But if Jesus is Lord, shouldn’t that fact affect how I go to work on Monday, and speak to my little girl, and spend my money? What does the gospel have to say to me in all those places? What does the gospel say to me about stress, and retirement, and serving in government, and talking to my friend with a gambling addiction?

It seems to me that your gospel-centered expositional sermons should get to all the stuff that topical preachers preach about, right?  Your preaching should be giving people all that and more. I think you call it sermon “application.” Shouldn’t your applications make expositional sermons topical, so to speak? Shouldn’t they, over time, cover all the topics of people’s lives? Shouldn’t the members in your church feel like they’re not missing anything?

 Okay, okay, I know there’s still a huge difference between your average topical sermon and your average expositional sermon, which is crucial. The Bible doesn’t exist, and church gatherings don’t happen, and sermons aren’t preached, simply to help people like me do this or that better. And a steady diet of topical preaching can make it seem that way—like the point of the whole church exercise is to improve my daily life. When really, the whole point of gathering and listening to preaching is to behold God, and to hear whatever he wants to say. I know that. I know I need his Word exposed, no matter what it says. I know I need to hear all of it, even the parts that seem obscure and irrelevant.

I’m just saying that I need you to show me how those obscure bits are relevant, even if those Hebrew chiasms are as naturally fascinating to you as they are to my Sunday School teacher who doesn’t get out much. I need you to show me how those chiasms help me to trust more, hope more, love more, and what that faith, hope, and love look like in the different areas of my life. Make sense?

Connect the dots for me. How do I get from justification by faith alone to being a manly man who cares well for his aging parents?

Okay, I admit, I don’t really want you to give up the expositional thing. I just want more from you. I want to have my cake and to eat it, too. Call me biblically greedy. I want you to apply your sermon in my life so that I’m learning all the helpful stuff they’re learning over at Topical Tommy’s church.  Okay?

5 Thoughts from Ronnie Floyd's 10 Things Every Minister needs to Know.

Two days ago: I picked up this book with some basic yet helpful thoughts. Here are some quotes from the first chapter of this book:

1. What would happen in your life if you focused for one hour daily on one thing alone? What would happen if your focus was so tight for that one hour that it was as piercing as a laser beam?...I have learned the power of one hour.
2. If you give yourself to doing anything for one hour a day consistently, you have the potential to become an expert.
3. What I can control is my focus. Even when I may not want to or feel like it . I am convinced that I can bridle and train myself to focus.
4. I have discovered through the years that the degree to which God changes me will usually be the degree to which I change the world. I cannot expect to change "the world" until I let God have more than ample opportunity "to change my world" by changing me first.
5. God expanding your influence does not guarantee a bigger ministry or church. You have missed it if you equate the two. It means that wherever you are serving you are not only being faithful but fruitful.

"The preacher who stands before his people and roundly denounces the sins of others, and yet fails to confront his hearers with their own greed, lust, hard-heartedness, and pride, is not bold, no matter how loudly he may thunder. It is relatively easy for a preacher to let fly the salvos of Scripture against the communists, the Roman Catholics, the homosexuals, the drunks, or the secular humanists -- most of whom are probably absent from his Sunday services. But how many will clearly and boldly address in relevant and challenging ways the evils of broken relationships between members of the church, poisonous envy among church leaders, generally tolerated compromises with worldliness among the affluent sheep who believe they have earned it, or the chronic laziness of the poor man who likes to think of himself as a victim?" (Wagner, Tongues Aflame, p. 45).

Preaching, of course, is not a soundbite; it is not polished rhetoric; its effect does not rest on the irresistible logic of the preacher's argumentation, but on the irresistible grace of the preacher's God-Ian campell. 4-9-09 on preaching.!!!

Signs that you lack spiritual Insight

• You are not being challenged by anybody to radically rearrange your life to be a part of what God is doing.
• God hasn't asked you to give something up.
• Everyone in your life and your church is happy with you. (If you are truly living for God you will always make people in your life uncomfortable).
• Nothing in regards to how you spend your time and energy has changed in the past year.
• You always find something wrong with people who are successful than you.
• You can achieve all the goals in your life WITHOUT the help of God AND others.
• You spend more time listening to friends, reading self help magazines, or listening to the local gossip than you do reading your Bible.
• You think the answer to every problem is, "If we just had more money."
• No one is avoiding you because you are too churchy or too hardcore for Jesus.
• You continually call other people begging them for money and unreasonable favors.
• You allow people with money or influence to dictate the way you spend your time and the direction of your life.
• Nothing in your life has been consistent in the past five years.
• You've never spent sleepless nights wondering and praying, "God, how in heck are we going to do this?"

Students as Full time Christian Workers

"It seems to me that we could address the matter of spiritually unfit Christians from one of two approaches. We could address it like we address our problem with physically unfit Americans – build more health clubs, sell more fitness products, host more seminars and work hard to make sure everyone has a personal trainer. ........Let’s ask ourselves: “What are we calling students to that require them to be spiritually fit?”What if we called students to run the race of the mission of the gospel? What if every student in our care believed they were called to full-time ministry in their schools, jobs and neighborhoods and that every moment was a gospel ministry moment? What if we helped them see that the small group they were involved in was really a potential core group of a new church to be started in their community and eventually they were going to be the pastors? What if the church once again called her people, especially her teenagers, to get ready to be sent out to start new churches everywhere and they knew they had only a couple of years to get ready? I wonder - would they take their spiritual fitness and training a little more seriously? Would we? The race has already started.
